Frequently Asked Questions

At what points of my project should I hire a Designer?

Always first, if possible. Most contractors will want to see a complete design of the space prior to giving construction bids - so they can give an accurate bid. Scaling back or adding more can always happen after that, but as a base bid - they want to see exactly what you’re after for a finished product.

How long does it take for the complete design to be ready?

The complete design will take an average of 5-6 weeks to complete, and very often more than that for complex projects or delayed approvals. This is a base estimate, and can vary for a variety of reasons.

IS HIRING FOXWOOD DESIGN CO. EXPENSIVE?

Hiring a designer is absolutely a luxury service. My creative abilities and personal style are unique to me, and you’re paying for not only my creative property, but the extreme efforts it takes from concept to a stunning finished space. My efforts are extreme on your behalf, and my clients are gold to me. If we begin with a feasible budget, we make every effort to keep your project within that.

Good design is not cheap, and it’s an investment in your home or business that will be unique to you - not every current trend.

How do you charge your clients?

I design my service around a Flat Fee. Once consulted, the proposal you receive will have a specific list of included rooms, and what is included within those rooms. The flat fee is divided into payments that will be paid prior to the start of the next phase. Making the process more affordable over the length of the project.

You keep saying Phase - What phases are there?

I work in the same method for the majority of projects. Consultation - to Proposal. Once you accept your proposal, we do a happy dance - the first invoice is sent to begin the first phase, and so one for each phase.

Phase 1 - Concept

The dreaming up of the good stuff, focusing direction, goals, and aesthetic vibe. This is what our decisions moving forward are based on.

Phase 2 - Design

Where the concept of the space, blossoms into a complete design. I narrow options, and big decisions are made and sourced.

Phase 3 - Project

Where the creative becomes tangible. The Design is built and produced by the construction team with my guidance. Sourcing continues for furnishings and decor.

Phase 4 - Install

All the hard work, and time, pays off. Final creative touch begins, any adjustments are made to give the space a successful finish. You get to enter a finished and curated space made specifically for your lifestyle.

What Contractors do you work with?

Any good quality contractor with a proven record of happy past clientele. There are so many good ones, and trust me they are worth the wait and cost. Sometimes contractors have designers on their team, and most of those contractors will still happily work with a designer of the client’s choice. I have recommendations that I trust, and can pass those along if requested.\

We are building our next house, do you do new construction?

Absolutely! I’ll work to create something basic prior to your architect drafting plans. And the architect will often come into the project with me to make all those ideas even better! We will work in tandem to make your new build something that makes your dreams your day to day reality.
